Friends of Orphans Program Director Mr. Anywar Ricky Richard and Programme Manager Mr. Alem Oryem Francis went for a micro finances enterprises conference at Georges Washington University in the US.  Impact of Micro enterprises on Youth and Development Presenter: Anywar Ricky Richard, Programme Director, Friends of Orphans – Uganda.

Anywar Ricky Richard, a former abducted child soldier in Uganda, will discuss the importance of youth participation in program development, especially in war-torn areas, as youth take centre stage on both sides of warring parties, and form the largest portion of abduction, rape, and torture victims. Ricky will explore a case study on the “Let Me Do It Myself ” Vocational Program that aims to empower, rehabilitate, and reintegrate formerly abducted youth, orphans, and child mothers who are heading vulnerable households impacted by war and HIV/AIDS in Uganda . Youth are trained in business, entrepreneurial, and vocational skills and given access to capital to help them launch income generating initiatives.  Anthony Brown Baritone a spiritual singer based in the US visited Friends of Orphans as a force for peace and backed up our peace building and conflict management programs in June 2006.
